Cumberland Trout Guide

Cumberland River Trout Fishing
Floating the river in a Drift boat is by far the best way to fish larger rivers like the Cumberland. With most of the river on Private land the only way to access the hot spots is by boat. Bring your own gear 4,5,6 wieght with floating line or I can supply you with equipment. All Cumberland float trips for 2 anglers Contact for One angler rates

Upper Cumberland River Smallmouth Bass
Day trip, Overnight or long weekend the Upper Cumberland hasit all. With my new NRS Otter 130 raft and fishing frame I will be running Smallmouth Bass trips. Smallmouth bass have got to be one of my favorite fish on the fly rod. Watching a Smallie slam a popper just make me smile and giggle like a school girl. The river is in great shape and fishing good. Smallies and whitewater how could you go wrong.

Elkhorn Creek
I grew up fishing Elkhorn creek and it is one of the best Smallmouth water in central Kentucky. When I lived in Montana (best trout fishing in the lower 48). The biggest thing I missed was Fly fishing Elkhorn and battling Smallmouth Bass. The Elkhorn is made up of the North, South and Main fork. All have great fishing just some streches in each are better than others. I will be guiding Elkhorn out of my new toy. A NRS Otter 130 raft with a fishing row frame. This boat holds 1 or 2 anglers. Due to the heavy rains that hit Kentucky. The Trout fishing on the Cumberland will suffer and discharge from the dam will be just to high to fish. Smallmouth fishing will be the only game in Kentucky. (Tennessee trout fishing may be great, and I will be guiding a few rivers down there. So check out the fishing reports page.) I will be offering this trip at a discounted rate to create interest.

Lake Cumberland Striper Night Bite
Striper on the Fly time. As the bait fish in the spring go to the banks to spawn at night so go the Striper and Walleye. This is really the only time of the year to catch Striper on the fly. We start the trip about an hour before dark. Casting 8wt. rods with sink tip line and BIG Streamers. If your arm wears out after a few hours (as my does) you can switch to spinning gear casting large lures. The time is now and may go to the end of May. I will offer this trip at a very low rate to get interest. Fly fishing is not just for Trout. If you never caught a Striper on a Fly, its time to give it a try.
